As per the latest survey conducted on the discrepancy in PAN Card details of MPs and MLAs, a number of anomalies have been detected on their PAN details.Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch (NEW) have analysed the PAN details of 542 sitting Lok Sabha MPs and 4086 MLAs. Of which 11 re-elected MPs and 35 re-elected MLAs have dissimilarities in the PAN details submitted by them in their affidavits.
The PAN comprises 4 alphabets, 4 numerical and an alphabet at the end, e.g.: ABCD4321F. Discrepancy noticed in the PAN card is that one number/alphabet is changed. ADR and NEW analysed the PAN details of re-elected MPs and MLAs in their affidavits submitted prior to last two Lok Sabha elections and last two elections in each assembly.A press release from the research organization said that as a policy, ADR does not disclose the PAN of candidates/winners in its reports. However, PAN can be accessed on the ECI website – eci.nic.in. Verification of correctness/ otherwise of PAN can be done on IT department website.
Even several MPs/MLAs who have not declared their PAN details. There are 7 sitting MPs and 199 sitting MLAs who have not declared their PAN details. The highest number of MLAs i.e 51 who have not declared PAN details are from INC, followed by 42 MLAs from BJP and 25 MLAs from CPI(M). Two MPs each from BJD and AIADMK, and 1 MP each INC, AIUDF and NCP have not declared their PAN details.
The analysis was also done state wise. The highest number of MLAs i.e 33 who have not declared PAN details are from Kerala, followed by 28 MLAs from Mizoram and 19 MLAs from Madhya Pradesh. Two MPs each from Odisha and Tamil Nadu, and 1 MP each Assam, Mizoram and Lakshadweep have not declared their PAN details.
The discrepancy also found in the PAN Details of several re-elected MLAs. The highest number of re-elected MLAs i.e 18 who have a discrepancy in declared PAN details are from BJP, followed by 9 MLAs from INC and 3 MLAs from JD (U).Four re-elected MPs from BJD, 2 re-elected MPs each from BJP and INC, and 1 re-elected MP each NCP, JD(S) and SHS have the discrepancy in their declared PAN details.
When it comes state wise re-elected MLAs with the discrepancy in PAN details, Madhya Pradesh has the highest number of re-elected MLAs i.e. 8 followed by Maharashtra with 7 re-elected MLAs who have the discrepancy in declared PAN details.Four re-elected MPs from Odisha, 2 re-elected MPs each from Maharashtra and Karnataka, 1 re-elected MP each from Manipur and West Bengal who have a discrepancy in declared their PAN details.
